Trevor Lawrence

Any NFL team that isn't solid right now at the qb position should be eyeing this guy like a hawk for when he will be coming out in a couple years. He is perhaps the best qb prospect since the Manning brothers. It was unbelievable what he was able to do to Alabama as a freshman and what he did all year long.

I live less than an hour from Clemson and the local media here was shocked in September that Clemson Coach Dabo Swinney went with the freshman Lawrence over the incumbent senior QB Kelly Bryant. Bryant, who inherited the job from DeShaun Watson, held the job last season and led Clemson to the final four in 2017; he transferred to Missouri after being demoted and will likely start there next season. Lawrence (who had a 30-4 TD-INT ratio in 2018) was brilliant last night; I reckon he'll be a top five pick in the 2020 NFL draft. it's been a couple decades since the last time Alabama lost by 28; in 1998 both Arkansas (42-6) and Virginia Tech (38-7) were worse than the Clemson game, but I think this game was much worse in that it was a National Championship game, and Alabama was a 5.5 point favorite.

A quick bio on Lawrence, he is from north Georgia, about 40 miles NW of Atlanta, and was the Atlanta Journal-Constitution player of the year, and was a phenom since his freshman year in high school. He also broke the Georgia state high school football career yards and career TD passes marks from DeShaun Watson. I saw Dan Marino play high school football, and also saw him play in person when he was a freshman at Pitt in 1979, and Marino was in my opinion was good enough that he could have gone pro right out of high school as he had the arm and the build and I think he would have picked up the pro game immediately. Trevor Lawrence is every bit as good if not better than Marino. His future seems unlimited, as long as he keeps his head on straight and doesn't get hurt, I think he is going to be a star in the NFL. He seems like a really good guy in interviews too as he is on the local sports a lot; I just hope the fame doesn't get to his head. I'll have to ask my niece if she has met Lawrence as she is a junior at Clemson, majoring in Physics (she wants to be an astrophysicist if you can believe that) and she goes to the Tigers games.

Yep. So Rupert what do you think of Tua's chances in the nfl? Do you think he can be a solid starter eventually in the league? Last night was a little telling for him as well (but just in the opposite way). He's looked really good all year long but that is likely largely due to the fact that Alabama is just a lot more talented than 99% of the teams they play. They didn't have that talent advantage over Clemson though and he was prone to making a lot of mistakes.

I don't watch much college football, but I think Tua's NFL draft stock took a huge hit last night. Regardless of last night, I think he could definitely make it in the NFL. Yesterday was the darkest day in the state of Alabama since the death of Bear Bryant.

Some commentator suggested it was the darkest day in Alabama since the Civil Rights Act was passed.

For half the state. I'm sure the War Eagle folks didn't seem to mind watching the Tide get Rolled by some Tigers.

Lol, yep, have you guys seen that documentary called Roll Tide/War Eagle? I tell you even though the passion and pagentry involved in college football is one of its strongest selling points. At the same time though that amount of fervor also has its darkside.
