Rams seem to be as good as gone...

Post by sheajets »

...back to LA. The endless drip, drip, drip of news stories seem to be predicting their demise. Where there's smoke, there's fire. And this is a helluva lot of smoke.

and all I see and hear from St. Louis regarding this is apathy. Now granted they are an enormous baseball town and their team only recently had their season end, but to me it just feels like the city has already mentally checked out on the Rams. They will let them go with minimal resistance

It'll be a surprise if the St. Louis Rams are the ones who fill the void in Los Angeles, but in 1994, it would have been more of a surprise to know that L.A. would go for more than 20 consecutive years without an NFL team. If there had been a commitment to a stadium, the city would have gotten the 2002 expansion franchise that went to Houston instead.

Someone said that in another thread... and become the Cleveland Browns while the Cleveland pathetics become the St. Louis Browns.
And then there is Jacksonville... where oh where will the little Jags go?

If the Rams go to LA, I hope they replace them in St. Louis. Fix two wrongs from the 90's.

I'm from Buffalo and most of my in-laws are in St. Louis. Whenever we visit for Christmas every other year and I start up a conversation about the Rams or football in general, I get not much more than blank stares. Its all Cardinals and a bit of the Blues whenever they're good. I did go to a Rams game with my brother in law a few years back and the crowd was so non-energetic we could have been in a library. The exact opposite of Bills games!

As the Los Angeles Rams, they were a team strongly identified with a particular place. In my opinion, having a team called St. Louis Rams was about like "St. Louis Steelers" or "St. Louis Dolphins."

The NFL has used Los Angeles for 20 years as a wedge to get "new stadiums" from the taxpayers every few years. If the NFL feels moving a team to Los Angeles makes more money, they will do it.
