PRFA in the News: New York Times edition

Post by Ronfitch »

From the New York Times, September 7, 2018:

Second-to-last paragraph:

"DeLamielleure and other former players say acting now is critical. According to the Professional Football Researchers Association, there are roughly 5,200 players who retired before 1993, but only 4,000 of them played a minimum of four years to qualify for a pension. About 140 of these pre-1993 retirees die each year."

Yesterday, I received an email from FAIR, the group mentioned in the article that is trying to help these athletes. The group was founded by Mrs. John Riggins and it is seeking pension equity for vested (played at least four seasons) pre-1993 NFL retirees. I didn't realize I was that high on the NFL food chain that something like this would reach me.

Did others here get the same email?
