Least talented secondary to win a Super Bowl
Least talented secondary to win a Super Bowl
Good to great secondaries have always seemed so critical to Super Bowl success. We've seen teams win the big one with middling passing offenses and running games. D-lines you can run on with regularity etc. But what would you say was the worst secondary to ever take home the Lombardi Trophy?

May not have been the worst secondary, but all four member of the Jets Super Bowl III secondary were gone within two years.

All true. Two of the players were at the end of solid careers. Bill Baird appears to have had a good career as safety and KR, while Johnny Sample was a top corner of long standing though a controversial figure to say the least. Randy Beverley and Jim Hudson had short tenures that didn’t last much past that season.SixtiesFan wrote:May not have been the worst secondary, but all four member of the Jets Super Bowl III secondary were gone within two years.

The 1982 ‘Skins definitely had a no-name secondary: Jeris White and Vernon Dean at CB, Tony Peters and Mark Murphy at S.
The 1986 Giants were pretty non-descript as well: a rookie Mark Collins and Perry Williams at CB, Kenny Hill and Terry Kinard at S.
The 1991 Cowboys don’t look especially distinguished: Larry Brown and Issiac Holt at CB, Thomas Everett and James Washington at S.
The 1999 Rams look a little thin: Todd Lyght and Dexter McCleon at CB, Billy Jenkins and Keith Lyle at S.
The 2006 Colts don’t appear to have been too distinguished: Nick Harper and Jason David at CB, Antoine Bethea and Matt Giordano at S. Bob Sanders was out most of the season with an injury, but did play in the Super Bowl.
The 2011 Giants look a little thin also: Corey Webster and Aaron Ross at CB, Antrel Rolle and Kenny Phillips at S.
