All-Marty Schottenheimer starting lineup

Post by 74_75_78_79_ »

Anyone who played for him (he, of course, strictly as their head coach) either for...

Cleveland, second half of 1984-thru-’88,

Kansas City, 1989-thru-’98,

Washington, 2001,

and/or

San Diego, 2002-thru-’06

A great starting lineup this should be! Thanks to ’93, it looks like neither Kosar, Brees, nor Rivers will be the starting QB.

Are we talking, just players while they played for him? Or an all time team of players who at any point in their career played for him? It you're asking the latter, the starting QB for this exercise is a slam dunk.

Hate having to leave out Byner and Marcus Allen. Okoye at FB and Tomlinson at HB the obvious starting backfield. Minnifield/Dixon your corners. How about WRs? Webster Slaughter should make it although his lone Pro Bowl year was in ’89, year after Marty.

Not just saying this because I'm a Steelers-fan (and I know how good Joe Cribbs was, had his football card back in '80 as well as remember them Bills overall), but judging Bettis strictly by '93, couldn't he possibly be a starter for Knox instead of second-team? Same with Christian Okoye for Marty (as much as I like Byner) if judging him strictly by peak-performance.

In either event, excellent rosters, John! Much better than I could do.

I would put Kosar above Montana for a Schottenheimer lineup.

Oh, sure. Okoye and Bettis would be good picks, too. I looked at them...just make a call. Anyone else's choices would be just as good.
