Football Writers awarded Earl Campbell the award in ’78 (his rookie year) as well as in ’79. A good enough debate/thread all by itself would be ‘Bradshaw or Campbell, ’78?’ Do you give it to Terry by ‘tiebreaker’ in that Steelers won it all as well as beating Oilers en route, or do you try your best to not use that as the determining factor as well as not hold #34’s rookie status against him at all? As much a Steeler-fan I am, Earl sure made such a splash in that first ever 16- game NFL season.
And Mark Moseley...God Bless! A stud kicker! In their ‘battle of network stars’-style competitions against other NFL teams in early-’80s, his teammates named him captain (respect)!
So I would guess ’67 is considered Johnny U’s last stellar NFL season?
