What does Brian Dawkins have to do?

Post by JohnTurney »

Maybe I am overrating him but if all the free safeties I have seen he's right up there. If I take them at their peak and look at all the skills of a free safety, coverages, range, instincts, hitting, smarts, blitzing, tackling, Cover-2 skills, cover -3 of man-free skills, you know all the "stuff".

To me
1 Ed Reed
2 Ronnie Lott (lost speed late)
3 Nolan Cromwell (injured)
4 Brian Dawkins
5 would have to think about because these 4 stand out

Next year Ed Reed is coming up and he's the best FS ever, IMO, and I think he's a 1st balloter,

Dawkins did it all...box, MOF, tackling, blitzing, he was not super consistent at ball hawking like Reed, but far better than most...

I don't get it

So ...

In: Moss, Urlacher, Dawkins, Lewis (haven't seen anything but obviously) and one more -- plus 3 senior/contributors.

Not in: Jacoby, Law, Lynch, Boselli

Based on what I've seen on twitter so far, my updated guess for who will make the Hall of Fame this year: Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Ray Lewis, Brian Urlacher, Brian Dawkins, Robert Brazile, Jerry Kramer, Bobby Beathard

I said similar on the old forums and most responses said he wasn't a Top 5 all-time safety which was crazy to me. Don't remember you posting on that topic back then but agreed. Arguably the best FS and definitely 'should be' 1st ballot.

Looks like T.O. is saying himself that he's in.

That completes the class.
