Pottstown Firebirds

Post by Shipley »

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the Pottstown Firebirds, who were immortalized in an NFL Films documentary that ran before Super Bowl V. They did another documentary about that team 30 years later known as "Pottstown Revisited," and I thought you'd like to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUEMGHbugRE&t=1641s

PS -- Be sure to scroll back to the beginning if you pull it up. For some reason the link I posted starts in the middle of the program.

That was the "Lost Treasures of NFL Films" episode on the Firebirds. If King Corcoran had come along today, he would no doubt wind up a reality TV star, with his own show.

Yes, you're right. If you watch until the very end of the Pottstown Revisited clip, YouTube automatically sends you elsewhere to watch the original. Just to give you a print version of King Corcoran's story, here's an article that ran in the Washington Post after he died (2009?): http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 02187.html

Thanks for that link. Unlike some of you, I had never seen the original show about Pottstown, and I watched that one first. Very good piece of work.
