From Carl Eller's Hall of Fame Bio:
"In one three-string season from 1975 to 1977, he recorded 44 sacks, according to unofficial statistics (sacks did not become an official NFL statistic until 1982)."
So whose unofficial stats are they using?
Are they using John Turney's or another source?
But Who's Counting?

It's a pity that they don't use well-researched stats from a very reliable source.JohnTurney wrote:That is from Viking media guides...and it was more like 35 for those 3 years, 10, 10, 15JuggernautJ wrote:From Carl Eller's Hall of Fame Bio:

They're lucky if they can get the names spelled right (i.e. Browns media guide made a reference to "Gayle" Sayers)rhickok1109 wrote:It's a pity that they don't use well-researched stats from a very reliable source.JohnTurney wrote:That is from Viking media guides...and it was more like 35 for those 3 years, 10, 10, 15JuggernautJ wrote:From Carl Eller's Hall of Fame Bio:

Re: But Who's Counting?
Give the Vikings some credit, only 9 or so off, ha. Certainly better than some of the tackle numbers they and others (Falcons, for example) have come up with.

Re: But Who's Counting?
Seems kind of "hinky dink" to me.
1. The (NFL) Hall of Fame should use verified statistics.
2. If the (NFL) Hall of Fame quotes a statistic it should be "official."
