Yes, it was the second game of NBC's Doubleheader for that Sunday. I saw the game and was rooting for the Bills. IMO it was a blown call if I ever saw one.BD Sullivan wrote:It was actually just a Week 12 late Sunday game that got wide coverage on NBCTeo wrote:Former head linesman Jerry Bergman Sr. died on May 15th. Bergman was active from 1966 through 1995, and worked 4 Super Bowls (after the 1978, 1981, 1983 and 1988 seasons) and another 4 Conference Championship games (after the 1980, 1982, 1984 and 1990 seasons). He wore uniform number 17 and his two sons Jerry Jr. and Jeff are current NFL officials.
Perhaps he is most famous for a controversial call in a Miami-Buffalo MNF game in 1975. where he overturned a Dolphins fumble.

Anyway, I found in a newspaper that even Ralph Wilson, owner of the Bills, wanted Bergman to be fired (little he knew at the time that Bergman would last 20 more years in the league).

Interestingly, in his final season Bergman was reprimended by the league for asking an autograph for his grandkids to Brett Favre.

Apologies if this has already been posted.
There is a report in a local Northern New Jersey paper that former Detroit Lions running back Dave D'Addio passed away at the age of 55 in late May.
He was a standout running back at powerhouse Union (N.J.) High School, then at the University of Maryland under coaches Jerry Claiborne and Bobby Ross.
