Calvin Johnson HOF?

Post by ChrisBabcock »

He walked away in his prime but I don't think a short-ish career would hurt his chances. Or would it?... with the way passing/receiving yardage is increasing these days.

3 / 6 / possible 2010s decade team

I think he'll be delayed because of his short career, but won't be denied the HoF. His peak is just too good.

Then again, one could say that about Sterling Sharpe. But am thinking those two additional seasons will likely make a difference for Johnson.

Completely agree.

If 1964 remains the record for yards in a season once he's eligible, he probably won't have to wait too long. But six years is a long time....

I think the selectors will begin to consider the health-related reasons accomplished players have for stepping away from the game. Johnson's case would have been stronger had the Lions done more in the postseason.
