From '71 thru '81, Lyle of course played for two different teams that weren't the Raiders. And of course in the first eight of those years, he had to play against Oakland twice a year (3 in the '77 campaign). Considering how intense the Raiders/Broncos rivalry was in the '70s, and just how real intense Lyle played, were there any storylines or rivalries between he and any Raider; perhaps future-teammates? Did he line up against Shell & Upshaw, or was he on the other side of the line?
And how about when he was a Brown? The 'Red Right 88' game in-particular. Raiders also beat the Browns in '79. Not only that, but Lyle as a Brown ('79 thru '81) was 0-4 total vs both his future and former teams having also lost to Denver in both '80 and '81. Any dramatic storylines in either of those games as well for Lyle was bitter that Denver released him?

Alzado did play against Shell
when he was wtih Raiders, and Browns. And Upshaw. Alzado did play some DT for Broncos.
However, in 1979 he did move to LDE due to injuries late in the season so Jack Gregory could play RDE.
He hated Raiders when he was with Broncos, some good stories in this book. But Tom jackson hated the Raiders, esp Madden at the time

Re: Lyle Alzado vs the Raiders
With the Browns, Alzado battled Art Shell in the two games and spoke about the respect that he had for him, so there doesn't appear to be any animosity. Regarding the Broncos, Alzado spoke before the 1980 game that Broncos GM Fred Gehrke was the only person he disliked/hated with Denver, since he wouldn't re-work his contract after the Ali fight turned out to be a financial debacle.
