Hello all!
I wanted to share with you a project I’ve been working on for some time now, that was inspired by the work of the PFRA, many a Coffin Corner article I’ve read, and a lot of the conversations on these boards.
It’s called Old School Fantasy Sports, and it allows you to play year-round fantasy football with your favorite current and historical athletes. It uses real play-by-play data to recreate their performances, which means you can use your sports knowledge to compete. It’s just like your regular fantasy league where you draft a team and decide who to sit/start/trade over a 16-game season.
The website is here if you’d like to take a look: https://oldschoolfantasyfootball.com/
I'd love to hear your thoughts! I've made this for folks like us who love football and football history as a new way to interact with the past - and the current. And if you’re interested, we’re looking for knowledgable folks such as yourselves to sign up, play a season, and provide your feedback on what you like and don’t like. Your feedback will help shape the site. And if you don’t want to sign up, I’d love to hear your thoughts still.
Thank you for the inspiration!

Re: Old School Fantasy Sports
I could possibly be interested in this in the summer. As a Jets fan, though, football is really not my friend. I don't try to have any deep football thoughts these days.
My concern with this game is that it seems the results would be more random than regular fantasy football and I don't get to actually watch games.

Re: Old School Fantasy Sports
Pretty cool concept. I actually was going to develop my own version of this during the upcoming summer, but it appears that I will have no need.. Will check out the website as I am interested.

Thank you for the feedback!
On the randomness question, we have three selection criteria that define their weekly performances:
1. Weekly Opponent: a number of plays will come from the weekly opponent the athlete is scheduled to face
2. Base Year: a number of plays will come from a particular year of the athlete's career
3. Random Plays: a number will be random, just to keep it interesting
With no's 1 & 2, the more you learn about the athlete's career, the better you can compete.
Please check out the site when you're ready, and let me know your thoughts. Thanks!
And sorry about the whole Jets thing....
