Patrick McDonald wrote:What made me ask this originally, I am putting together participation charts for the seasons of 1970 & 1971. The proliferation of QBs I understand, since rosters were at 40 and teams only carried two QBs lest one get dinged up, then they would add one eg. Buddy Lee. Anyone ever heard of Eric Stolberg or Max Anderson? They were both active in 1971, Anderson for Buffalo, week 1, Stolberg for New England, week 7. I appreciate everyone's contributions on this. Also, if anyone knows who the three players the Giants activated that never played in the game, week 14 1971 it may cure my headache
Max Anderson played at Arizona State and was the Buffalo Bills leading rusher in 1968. The next year the Bills drafted one O.J. Simpson. Anderson started one game in 1969 when Simpson was injured. He did fairly well and the Bills beat the Patriots. I believe Anderson was injured during 1970 preseason.
Anderson got his jaw broken by Pats linebacker John Bramlett in October 1969 and missed a month.
