Derrick Jensen
Derrick Jensen
Saw that former Raider RB Derrick Jensen died recently. In reviewing his statistics on profootballreference.com, I noticed in the 1980 season finale Jensen had a 33 yard kickoff return **for a touchdown** for the Raiders final score of the game. I was wondering, what were the circumstances that allowed such a short KO return for a score in that game, and is that the shortest actually returned KO for a TD in NFL history?

Re: Derrick Jensen
That kickoff return appears in the Raiders 1980 NFL Films yearbook. It was an onside kick, but the Giants' Joe Danelo kicked from their 25-yard line (due to a penalty) right into Jensen's hands. I believe it's the shortest, others from <40 yards I remember off the top of my head were: in 1984, Mike Guman of the L.A. Rams against Cincinnati, and Randal Williams of Dallas against Philadelphia in 2003.MarbleEye wrote:Saw that former Raider RB Derrick Jensen died recently. Rodney Harrison returned an onside kick 40 yards for a score vs Ind in 1997.
Henry Jones took one back 37 yards vs Arizona in 1999.
