They want people's hind ends in their seats watching the game, not outside by the concession stands playing the slots while the game is going on. Doesn't look good for TV to show empty seats.
Much like the two major Arkansas universities (and SEC) who asked for an exemption to bar people from bringing guns into the stadium after this idiotic new law was signed:

As a lifelong Raiders fan who doesn't live on the west coast, I have mixed emotions about the pending move. While it is cool to cheer for a team located in Vegas, this team's history and most of its best moments are rooted in Oakland. There is enough blame to go around...to the Raiders and Mark Davis, for turning their backs on their loyal, local fans. To the politicians, who have had ample time to come up with a suitable alternative to the current stadium situation that would be acceptable to their constituents, the Raiders, the A's, and the NFL. To the owners, so driven by taxpayer money that they allowed two teams in the last 3 months to walk away from communities that supported their teams. But as others on this forum have mentioned, the NFL will go to where ever there is free public dollars. It's sad that is where we are (and have been) in professional sports, but money is the bottom line, loyalty be damned.

While I hope that Vegas fully gets behind the Raiders, I don't think that it will happen. Too many people live in Vegas but aren't from Vegas. Maybe in a generation, things will be different. But by then, the domed stadium to be built in 2020 will be 20 years old and there will likely be the threat to move them back to Oakland unless a new Vegas stadium is built, also funded by taxpayers. Again, it's where we are in sports.

Regardless of where they play, I'll support the Silver and Black. We'll see if Vegas and the rest of the Raider Nation follows suit.

As best can be determined, when the vote was one short of unanimous, there was no stipulation made to even attempt to convince the casino operators to forego about 6% of their professional football sports book.
It would be like asking them to close the craps tables when Andrew Clay was performing.
It ain't gonna happen.

Las Vegas is the city of sin.
You never get out the way you went in.

For those who like wearing blinders, the Raiders in Vegas will be just another move.
The realists will see that the league and the Raiders and all who support the move just want a piece of another dollar.

Just sin, baby.
The Raiders’ upcoming move to Las Vegas is being greeted with open arms — or something — by one enterprising Nevada businessman.

There was no "manipulation" of any quotes about my "false claim." It's called a mistake. I like how in the span of just a month or so on this board, you've already managed to step on multiple people's toes.

What would have saved the Raiders from moving to Las Vegas?

A brand new stadium just like Cowboys Stadium in downtown Oakland which the Raiders did not have to pay one penny for but they got all the profits and luxury box money from? The Raiders have quite possibly the most loyal fanbase of any NFL team, who would drive 370 miles each way to support their team. I went to college in LA in the early 80's when the Raiders were there and the locals there never really got behind the Raiders, even after they won the Super Bowl, they still favored the Rams. It turned out the only Angelinos who really supported the Raiders were the local gangbangers who popularized the gangmembers nationwide wearing LA Raiders merchandise in the 80's and 90's.

Somewhat relevant. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/20 ... -be-fined/

NFL players take part in arm wrestling event. Will be fined because it took place inside a casino which is a violation of the gambling-policy.

Kind of funny. They're fine relocating a team to Las Vegas but things like this are a problem? Can only imagine once players are living/playing there full time the sort of issues that can/will come up.

With the rule being that "league personnel are prohibited from making promotional appearances at casinos or other gambling-related establishments" couldn't anytime a future LV Raiders player steps inside a casino - regardless of what he's doing once inside - be considered a "promotional appearance"?

They're probably going to have to re-write and come up with an entire new set of regulations because it's against the rules to make a "public appearance" that "publicizes a casino". So one has to wonder, isn't anytime an athlete goes somewhere a "public appearance" and for whatever casino they happen to enter, would that not "publicize" that casino?

And what if a fan asks for an autograph but they're inside a casino?

There's a lot of other issues, also. I haven't read the "NFL player policy" in a couple years but I remember that players are not allowed either in or near a "sports book" during the season. But if you're walking through a casino you'll eventually walk by or through the "sports book". That's easy to avoid if you're playing in New York but if you're playing for a team in Las Vegas I imagine you'll eventually go inside a casino during the season and eventually/accidentally walk near the sports book.

Not news to anyone that it's ridiculously predictably that there's going to be numerous issues once the Raiders are in Las Vegas.

Seems like NFL Security will have to pretty much assign a security person to every single person associated with the Raiders organization just to follow them and make sure there is no malfeasance.
