Big Yardage Games, No Touchdowns
Big Yardage Games, No Touchdowns
Sometimes, we see guys ring up individual yardage- rushing, recieving, passing- but not get into the endzone for a touchdown.
What are some examples of this you recall?
The one that jumps out for me is Bernie Kosar's 401 yards in a MNF game against Miami (playoff rematch) from November 1986, a 26-16 Cleveland win. It was the first time a QB threw for 400 yards, 0 touchdowns, and his team WON the game (Only other time it happened- Warren Moon against Dallas in 1991)

In a January 1988 playoff game, Anthony Carter gained 278 all-purpose yards but did not score a touchdown.
Re: Big Yardage Games, No Touchdowns
In 1994, Barry Sanders had 4 games where he ran for 160+ yards, but did not score a TD, including a record 237 yard performance against Tampa Bay. (The most yards rushing without a score.) Doug Martin came within 2 yards last season.

That game was featured in the 1973 Great Teams, Great years book on the Los Angeles Rams. It was also mentioned in a long ago NFL Films segment on Jon Arnett. When Arnett was traded to the Bears in 1964, George Halas told him he wanted him under 200. Arnett said he weighed 205 in his big game against the Bears. Halas replied, "You never scored."Bryan wrote:Jon Arnett had 298 all-purpose yards for the Rams against the Bears in 1958 and didn't score a TD.
