The 1978 Cowboys were defending Super Bowl champs. The 74 Vikings had lost the year before to Miami, but actually had more problems that year playing at home than on the road.

The 78 Cowboys should be the obvious choice. They were defending champions. At that point they had just as much of a claim to being the team of the 70s as the Steelers did.
