Rank all 16 SB-runner-ups this century

Post by 74_75_78_79_ »

Below are all 16 to be shuffled from #1 to #16. With '01 Rams & '15 Panthers in the mix, are '07 Pats really an 'automatic' shoe-in for #1? With Warner, Fitz, Boldin, etc...are Cards really a definite #16?

2000 - Giants
2001 - Rams
2002 - Raiders
2003 - Panthers
2004 - Eagles
2005 - Seahawks
2006 - Bears
2007 - Patriots
2008 - Cardinals
2009 - Colts
2010 - Steelers
2011 - Patriots
2012 - Forty Niners
2013 - Broncos
2014 - Seahawks
2015 - Panthers

Before I take a stab at this... Would this be based on regular season performance only or the entire season including playoffs and SB? Either way, that effects where I'll put the aforementioned '08 Cardinals. :)

07 Patriots #1 obviously. I'd put the 06 Bears at #16. Looking back the NFC was pretty weak in the mid 2000s.

The Seahawks got hammered by the refs in"05,the NFL wanted the Steelers to win,in my view.

1. ‘07 Patriots... If they won the two SBs that they lost to the Giants, both those Giants teams would immediately be inserted in the bottom 2 slots on this list.
2. ‘01 Rams
3. ‘15 Panthers
4. ‘05 Seahawks
5. ‘09 Colts... yeah they started 14-0 but didn’t really blow anybody out of the water. Can thank the Jets for helping them avoid the Chargers in the playoffs.
6. ‘13 Broncos
7. ‘02 Raiders
8. ‘11 Patriots
9. ‘04 Eagles... I want to rank them higher but clock management in the SB was weird.
10. ‘14 Seahawks
11. ‘12 49ers
12. ‘10 Steelers
13. ‘06 Bears
14. ‘00 Giants
15. ‘03 Panthers
16. ‘08 Cardinals... I thought maybe I’d rank them higher since we’re including the playoffs but nope.

1) - '07 Patriots
2) - '01 Rams
3) - '15 Panthers
4) - '12 Forty Niners
5) - '14 Seahawks
6) - '05 Seahawks
7) - '10 Steelers
8) - '04 Eagles
9) - '13 Broncos
10) - '03 Panthers
11) - '09 Colts
12) - '11 Patriots
13) - '00 Giants
14) - '06 Bears
15) - '02 Raiders
16) - '08 Cardinals

Would have really liked to place Rams at #1. The '07 Pats did cruise-control down the stretch; allowing Jags & not-full-strength Chargers to give them games had to hint the Giant-loss to come, but if '01 Rams couldn't beat the '01 Pats...(upset or not)...

Was also wanting to (and thinking I'd) exempt Zona from #16 but just couldn't help it in the end. Placing them at #13 was tempting and so was placing G-men at #16, but that John Fox D of theirs' historically underrated, overshadowed by their actual SB-opponent, Ravens. '11 Pats D 31st in yardage allowed, but its bend-but-not-break along with Belichick/Brady/many Pro Bowlers keeps them well-enough from bottom.

One team I'm noticing we're all over the place on is the '05 Seahawks. I wonder what Reaser's take on them is.
