The A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company of Decatur, Illinois, organized their first football team on this day in 1919.

The plant welfare society agreed to allocating around $1,000 for the season. Fritz Wasem was named Manager and former University of Illinois QB Jim Cook was Coach.
