A Blast from "Our" Past

Post by JuggernautJ »

I would kill to have a date for this (the pad of paper it was written on had a copyright of 2001) and I do remember where I lived when we did this informal poll so I would guess its from about 2003-6 but...

I found a pad referring to a PFRA (online) discussion from long ago regarding Wide Receivers and their worthiness for the Hall.
Perhaps someone will recollect this discussion or can get a better sense of the timing from those discussed.

Participants were:
Bob Carroll, SingleWingSteve, HoFfan, Andy someone, myself and seven others (for a total of 12).

We each listed our preferences for enshrinement in order of 1-10 and I then tabulated the results (10 points for a first place ranking through 1 point for a 10th place) and eventually lost them... only to rediscover them last week in a fit of deep (deep, deep) cleaning.

In descending order our poll resulted in the following:
Andre Reed (82 total points)
Micheal Irvin (67)
Art Monk (66)
Harold Jackson (48)
Mark Clayton (40)
Stanley Morgan (37)
Harold Carmichael (33)
Irving Fryer (30)
Henry Ellard (28)
Sterling Sharpe (28)
Wes Chandler (25)
Gary Clark (20)
Roy Green (19)

Others mentioned were Drew Hill and Herman Moore (8), Andre Rison (5) and Mark Duper (4)

Ring any bells?

I'm surprised Sterling Sharpe was that low.

Surprised not to see Drew Pearson or Cliff Branch.
