I think some people did think they were watching something special. I listen to sports talk radio 680 The Fan down here in Atlanta and Tuggle is still getting mentioned. I can recall three instances this summer. The last instance someone threw out a handful of historical Falcon Players and then the host rated them on a 1-10 scale. Sorry I don't recall the list - but Tuggle was one of two who got 9s. I think fans of the franchise do consider this guy to be one of their best.

Well, yeah, but it's one thing for fans to think they're watching something special in one of their own guys. I've felt that way about a lot of Packers who don't belong in the Hall of Fame, probably going back to Bob Forte :D

Seen a lot of those types come through Buffalo ...

I understand - this thread totally nixes my idea to start a thread promoting Tony Nathan or one of my childhood favorites for the HOF :)
The thing I forgot is when I first saw the thread I googled "Tuggle HOF" and he made the list in a BleacherReport article called: "The Best Middle Linebackers Not in the Pro Football Hall of Fame".

That was your mistake: equating Bleacher Report with legitimacy. :D

They have some good articles sometimes. This one about Beattie Feathers was well researched: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2520 ... ard-rusher

For those interested, here are four articles the PFRA published (and referenced in the Bleacher Report article) back in the 1980s:

Thanks Ken! - I've stumbled on a few of those before - but it's really cool seeing them all together.

Mike Tanier did that one, he's very good, IMO. I like reading his stuff
