One question: "1975-85" includes 11 seasons. Do you actually use the 1975-1984 seasons?

I use a floating 10 year period. So, it could be 1974-83, 1975-84, 1976-85. I slide it if necessary to fit a player into a decade. So, for example, Drew pearson is 74-83 and Hannah is 76-85 for example. I compare the best 10 years of what I loosely call the "mid-decade" which is why I use the years ending in 5---1965-75, 75-75 etc

I think leaving Lemar Parrish off this team is a major oversight. He had his 3 first team all pro selections and 5 of his 8 pro bowl appearances during this time period. Most of his KR prowess came earlier, but still...

And Ken Riley still has one all pro selection and zero pro bowls during this time.

To me, it's no contest.

I've seen others play with using 1975-1984 as a decade "team", have seen half-decade teams (e.g. 1990-1994), even saw a proposal for All-Decade teams beginning with years ending in "1" (e.g. 1991-2000, 2001-2010).

For me, I've never put stock in "All-Decade", nothing more than arbitrary 10-year periods. Doesn't make sense to me that the real All-Decade teams hold any weight, it's a flawed process (not to mention the flaws in the actual "teams").

I guess if it comes down to time frame that it's more interesting to me to use an individual players career-span. Like who was the best safety during Kenny Easley's career? You don't need to make it fancy and call it the "1981-1987 All-7 year Team" and it asks the right question and gives the right answer. Something that arbitrary 10-year periods don't do - unless of course the 10-year period isn't arbitrary and you're doing 1975-1984 to see if Robert Brazile was the best OLB when he played.

you could be right, but I think Parrish was better fit for1970s, but I still could make change but here part of data:

1983 1st Team All-NFL Associated Press'; 1st Team All-Conf

So, from 75-83 he was in the money he also picked of 42 passes and 5 were for TDs

Parrish had no honors after 1980
1975 2nd Team All-NFL
1976 1st Team All-NFL
1977 2nd Team All-Conf.
1979 1st Team All-NFL
1980 1st Team All-NFL

he picked off 28 passes for 1 TD

I think Parrish was quality CB in 1970-74, was more than a punt returner.

So, it came down to Parrish better peak, but tailed off (nothing after 80) to more cosistency and picks. And the way I kind of group it, 1970-80 would be essentially "the 1970s". I don't think a hard and fast rule that cuts something off by a year or even two messes up to excercise. To me, parrish is a 1970s

Were I to do a 1970s it would be something like this:
1st ---pos- 2nd
Roger Wherli CB Lemar Parrish
Mel Blount CB Willie Brown

AND, it would be close with Parrish and Blount, perhaps a 1st team tie

I went "peak" over concistency for WRs, and Largent and Joiner were no selected, also included post-season. Aped the Dr. Z line on this
