Teams in same conf who rarely met, pre-'02

Of course you can also use, as examples, pre-'70 of two teams in same LEAGUE (NFL or AFL) hardly ever squaring off.

Off top of my head, and I could be wrong, I'm thinking Bills/Seahawks or Eagles/Lions?

The Broncos and Dolphins played each other in 1975, not again until 1985, and not again until 1998.

Guess bringing up Eagles/Lions was understandable. From '79 to '84 they didn't square off but even more so they not meeting between '86 and '95. Other than that, not too uncommon an occurrence. CARDS and Lions, however...both played twice in '49 not to play again until '59, and in '80 they both played twice as well then not meeting again until nine years later.

Bills/Seahawks? '79-'84 and '89-'95 only real gaps. Now COLTS/Seahawks...they played in '78 not to meet again until '91.

Browns and Dolphins didn't meet for seven years (1979, 1986), though they did meet in the 85 playoffs.

Steelers and Jets didn't meet for eight years (1992, 2000).

Two cheats:

Oilers/Titans and Broncos didn't meet for nine years (1995, 2004).

Bengals and Chiefs didn't meet for 10 years (1993, 2003).

Interestingly, the first nine times the Bengals and Seahawks met, eight of the games were in Cincy. The only Seattle contest was a 1987 scab matchup. So until 1990, the legit Bengals had never headed to the Northwest.

Bills/Chargers didn't meet between 1985-1998 (though they nearly played in the '92 AFC Championship Game)

The Colts and Raiders went nine years between RS games (1975-84), with only the Ghost to the Post 1977 playoff in between.

Despite being charter members of the AFL and playing twice virtually every year, the Chargers only came to back to NY/NJ once between 1970-89--in 1974. The two teams went nearly eight years (1975-83) between games.

The Pats and Chefs played in 1981--and then not again until 1990.

The Lions and Saints played in 1980--and then not again until 1988.
