2016 NFL Schedule

No thread on this yet, so I thought I'd take it upon myself to start one.

One thing that stands out. This schedule features rematches of the last two Super Bowls. That hasn't happened since 1977. (And only once before that, in 1970).

The Jets schedule is odd.

Then, during the last eight regular season weeks, the Jets play two road games.

The Steelers playing the Bengals in Week 2 when Vontaze Burfict will be suspended stinks of manipulation. I bet the Steelers requested it.

The eight road games (in a 14-game season) was the result of the Mets WS appearance moving a home game against the Steelers to Pittsburgh, with the Jets' horrible stadium lease keeping them out of Shea until after the baseball season ended.

Yes, and it is also weird that in 1969 the reigning Super Bowl champions did not play a home game (including preseason) until October 20th.

2012 Detroit Lions (had bye in Week 5)
2014 Chicago Bears (had bye in Week 9)

The 1970 Miami Dolphins had the reverse home/away sequence in their first 9 games (Away, Away, Home, Away, Away, Home, Away, Away, Home)

The Packers' schedule is goofy this year. Opening on the road for the first two weeks. Then at home for four consecutive games. A three-game road trip in November. Lastly they close the regular season against three division opponents.

Two Christmas games this year - Ravens@Steelers 4:30, Broncos@Chiefs 8:30 (both times ET); most of the other games that week will be the day before (on Sat). The following week, ALL games on New Year's Day either at 1 or 4 ET with no night game. Steelers one of four teams that never played Christmas Day (who are the other 3?). They'll also be playing Thanksgiving Night at Colts.

Who else has played both T-Day and Christmas in the same year? Who else has played the trifecta (both those AND New Year's Day)?

For the first time in history there will be a Monday Night game outside the USA (November 21, Houston-Oakland at Mexico City). In 2005, the first game outside the USA also played at Azteca Stadium between San Francisco and Arizona was a Sunday Night game.
