Re: HOVG Class of 2016 Nominees
I had thought Don Perkins was in the HOVG already. I did view the list of members when deciding upon whom to nominate. Maybe I crossed his name off by accident. I would have nominated him instead of Arbanas.
Anyway, it is a good list overall and there will be some tough choices this year.

My nominees went 0 for 5 but I do love that Don Perkins is on the list of finalists.

Great group of finalists! 3 of my 5 made the finalist list.
What is the process that whittles down the entire group of nominees to the 20 finalists? Just whoever gets the most "yes" votes from the nominating committee? Just curious.

Each member of the committee ranks their top 20 players in order. Player number 1 gets 20 points. Player number 2 gets 19 points, and so on. The points for each player are added up and the top 20 players (by points) are the nominees for the membership.ChrisBabcock wrote:Great group of finalists! 3 of my 5 made the finalist list.

You'd think that 200 wins as a coach would be worth at least a nomination, notwithstanding his 5-13 record in the playoffs. Tough crowd!

Marty was one of my five that didn't make the cut.Jeremy Crowhurst wrote:You'd think that 200 wins as a coach would be worth at least a nomination, notwithstanding his 5-13 record in the playoffs. Tough crowd!

Re: HOVG Class of 2016 Nominees
Great list! And many great players (like Joe Fortunato) didn't even had their name submitted, thanks Ken for the list.
I only had one player who did made the cut, Isiah Robertson. I believe we overlooked him in the past and that he will get this year to the HOVG.
By the way, when is the deadline for sending our 10 selections?

Re: HOVG Class of 2016 Nominees
Fortunato is my screw up. I will nominate him next year . . . I said I would nominate him and didn't get it done. Anyway, Butch Robertson, with the Campell bulldozing aside was a good LBer, not a HOFer, IMO. But ideal for the HOVG. He didn't have the consensus AllPros, like a Howley (who deserves HOF) but he was All Pro and Pro Bowl plenty .. .and was good in 1979 and 198o for Bills before tapering off. Not a huge hitter, but he could cover and could blitz. And when he did intercept was good at returns. And as a "Buck" in that system was good and flowing/scraping to make tackles on cutbacks . . . a fine player---HOVH for sure, but no one will ever push for HOF.Teo wrote:Great list!
