I met him in 1991. He was a great guy.
Mr. Lattner was one of the few Domers I ever liked.

He had the same problem coming out of Notre Dame that Hornung had: He could do so many things so well that coaches didn't quite know what to do with him. He was an excellent punt and kick returner, an excellent runner and receiver, an excellent defensive back ... but the Air Force and the knee injury ended his career prematurely. I saw him score his first NFL touchdown, in the 1954 opener against the Packers.
