Who knew that the NFL's growth was based on watching coaches walk up and down the sidelines?

"...But it's also technically true that the carburetor working with the engine and the drive train move the car forward, but you'd never show a picture of pistons firing if someone asked you who won the Indy 500, and how."
Oh by Gosh by Golly! Wrong again!
Scroll back to when football was football and you were still soiling your diapers. The 1960s... when there were ads
showing happy little pistons pumping away with pleasure due to a blend of scientifically treated petroleum.
Those hard-working little fellows were credited with helping win many an auto race with a string of drivers
from Parnelli Jones to a guy named Petty.
But, unlike your preference, it was the drivers who took the victory laps - not the manufacturers or owners.
If anything, the hall of fame should exclude coaches and owners and administrators and everyone except those
who wore the cups and took the blows to the chin and popularized the game.
Family notwithstanding, it is doubtful anyone will be excited when the Krafty one raises the trophy again this year
but they'll jump with joy when Tom Terrific does and even give three cheers for the Bellyache - Bill, that is.

"It was a different game when I played.
When a player made a good play, he didn't jump up and down.
Those kinds of plays were expected."

He drove "Big Oly" in the Mexican 1000. Named after his Olympia Beer sponsor - Olympia Brewery was about a 2 minute drive from my house as a kid. Went there for many of the tours until the brewery closed. A coach once told us before a game, "Our town is known for two things. Beer and Football. And the brewery is closed." All he needed to say, we won.oldecapecod11 wrote:Parnelli Jones
Also, Burfict was suspended for the first 3 games of 2016, for those that haven't seen.
