"The integrity of the game"
Re: "The integrity of the game"
Speaking of integrity, this reads a bit like a chapter from North Dallas Forty:
"What Does It Take To Stay In The NFL? You Don’t Want To Know"

Remember Brian Tuohy? I think that he believes that last night's game was rigged:

Also, here are two more entries about this game from the same guy:

So Tuohy was on the field before the game checking out Rodgers' pre-game passes? LOL7DnBrnc53 wrote:Remember Brian Tuohy? I think that he believes that last night's game was rigged:

Often times NFL coaches and players can't execute a winning game plan when trying 100%. So why are they (according to Tuohy) so expert in producing a fix?7DnBrnc53 wrote:Remember Brian Tuohy? I think that he believes that last night's game was rigged:

I don't know. That's not the only claim that he is making, though. This is from his Fix is In site on his NFL page (under Week 12):SixtiesFan wrote:Often times NFL coaches and players can't execute a winning game plan when trying 100%. What if Peyton Manning isn't really injured? Sure, his foot is in a walking boot, but as mentioned above, I never saw the man limp despite a torn tendon/ligament in his foot. What if the Broncos - and by extension, the league - is protecting him for the time being? The Broncos are already playoff bound, so why not put old man Manning on ice for a while and save him for when the games really count again? Osweiler appears to be the odd backup QB that can actually play NFL football...at least enough to keep the media asking questions about who should start, is Manning going to be traded, or retire, blah, blah, blah. But what if it's all a ruse intended to build suspense and interest until Manning's return for that final Super Bowl push?

Yeah, I guess Peyton's serious look says it all, LOL.7DnBrnc53 wrote:I don't know. That's not the only claim that he is making, though. I am sure he feels the Bills-Seahawks game from last night was also rigged.7DnBrnc53 wrote:Remember Brian Tuohy? I think that he believes that last night's game was rigged:
I understand the whole second half could have played out differently but I will go the dumb guy route anyway and say that if the Bills were able to make a field goal at the end of the first half, then they would have probably made one at the end of regulation too and the game would have gone to overtime.

Here was his tweet from Tuesday:JWL wrote:I am sure he feels the Bills-Seahawks game from last night was also rigged.7DnBrnc53 wrote:Remember Brian Tuohy? I think that he believes that last night's game was rigged:

Also, he had this to say on his NFL page:The best part of this is the ref 10 feet away watching the play and not throwing a flag. And why are ratings down?
Do I really need to talk about this play? Or that fact that the refs--the not the replacement refs from a few years ago; no, the real, honest-to-goodness NFL officials--completely screwed the Bills on Monday Night Football? When USA Today is saying the Bills were "cheated," you know what went down was crooked.
This non-personal foul call at the end of the first half wasn't the only call in which the officials favored the home-town Seahawks, but it's the one that's getting all the attention. Even the NFL's head of officiating, Dean Blandino (you know, the guy who used to be a stand-up comic prior to joining the NFL...I'm serious here. Look it up), chimed in to say the refs "made mistakes" and the league will "look into it." Of course, it's too late to matter, but that's the NFL for you.
Re: "The integrity of the game"
From what I heard Richard Sherman was fined for making contact with Dan Carpenter but the officiating crew will not be punished in any form. I read that on the internet so it might be wrong.
If true, that is amazing.
Sherman touched the ball. At that point, does it matter that he touched the kicker?
That play makes me think of the play in 1995 when the refs should have blown a play dead but didn't and it resulted in Boomer Esiason receiving a concussion.
The big sin in the Bills-Seahawks game was the refs' clock fiasco after the Sherman-Carpenter incident.

Re: "The integrity of the game"
Exactly! That is where the Bills were screwed, the ref standing over the ball which essentially caused the delay of game.JWL wrote:The big sin in the Bills-Seahawks game was the refs' clock fiasco after the Sherman-Carpenter incident.
Not prior to that.
Roughing the kicker wasn't in question because the play was 'supposed' to be blown dead - plus Sherman got to the ball first so it wouldn't have been roughing anyways.
What the NFL is saying is that it was the same as being offsides, the play being blown dead, and continuing on to hit the QB.
Except the play wasn't blown dead, no official ran up to 'protect' the kicker (as they do in "unabated to the QB" situations) and had the kick been made then it would have been a good FG. So Sherman did exactly the right thing, play to the whistle. If he just stops and gives up and the kick is made then he would be in the wrong.
The excess/4th timeout and the kicker having to come out for a play was handled correctly (plus the kicker wasn't actually injured and was trying to draw a penalty so he put his team in that situation himself.)
Of course all the talk is about the 'dirty' hit on the kicker so the always reactionary NFL fines Sherman. Laughable.
They did give negative marks to the officiating crew, though. Then hyped up - what was already known - how the officials grades determine who gets the playoff assignments. As if that absolves the league and it's officials of completely screwing up yet another simple thing - not resetting the play-clock.
Typical response from the league. First with the "Look over there!" asinine Sherman fine then with the "we punished the officials with a bad grade" as if that makes anything up to the Bills.
