PFHOF announces 2016 semifinalists

Post by Gary Najman »

Five new faces - first timers Faneca, Favre and Owens, plus Boselli and Mills.

Thoughts?

I think that Favre and Faneca will make it in their first try. Owens should get in, but after Harrison, who I think will be Aldo selected. I think Kevin Greene will be elected, and I believe that Coryell can be this year's dark horse. But if I had a vote I would chose Pace.

Boselli and Mills are the two main surprises, though I think both are worthy of induction. I doubt either will make the finalist list.

Am guessing 13 of the final 15 will be Andersen, Lynch, Favre, Warner, Pace, Faneca, Owens, Harrison, Dungy, Johnson, Coryell, Green, and Davis. No idea who the last two might be, but Jacoby, Craig, Kenn, and Mecklenberg are running out of eligibility and two of them might break through this time.

As to who gets in, am thinking it will be Favre, Pace, Green, Harrison, and Dungy.

I am still upset that the seniors committee have still not forwarded the names of Mike Curtis and Johnny Robinson up for enshrinement.

Two other thoughts:

--four of the semi-finalists will have their regular eligibility run out soon: Joe Jacoby and Roger Craig (2018) and Mike Kenn and Karl Mecklenburg (2019). They're going to need to make the finalist list soon or fall into the Senior pool. Craig was a finalist a couple years ago, though none of the rest have been. I think Mecklenburg is worthy and am on the fence with the others. We'll see what happens.

--am surprised to see Zach Thomas continuing to go nowhere despite a 5/7/00s profile. The little I've seen online about him and his perception with voters has not been encouraging. Does he not grade out well in film study or something?

I was wondering the exact same thing.
