Matt Kofler query

On 9-23-84, Matt Kofler of the Bills appeared in a game vs the Jets. I did not check the game book but do have both the 1985 NFL Record & Fact Book and The Sporting News Guide from 1985. There is nothing in either about Kofler. The line score and the stats show that Joe Ferguson threw 46 passes and threw touchdowns in the 1st and 4th quarters. Kofler threw 5 passes. Did Ferguson get injured and miss a series or two and then come back later or did Kofler only play at the very end of the game? I remember listening to this game as a young child in my mom's car but I don't remember the parrticulars about the Bills quarterback situation.

Ferguson got crushed by Joe Klecko and got carted off late in the game, which brought in Kofler in the last few minutes.

I remember that game as an NFL Films Game of the Week. Ferguson came back to throw a TD pass to Julius Dawkins, but the Jets won.
