Rule - Pass Interference ?

Can anyone tell me when pass interference became an official rule? Were they allowed to basically mug the receivers before the rule was enacted or was this some kind of progressive rule that adapted over time?
Thanks

Where did the nicknames come from?

I've been reading and researching about the early days of the NFL (and college) and wonder where the nicknames come from? I know the Green Bay Packers are from the Acme Packing Co. The Hammond Clabbys were named after their professional boxing sponsor, Jimmy Clabby. I've also come across the early N...

Another old rules question

I've read that in 1915 the scoring team would receive the kickoff(I guess this was like a basketball "possession" rule), I know that by 1918 that wasn't the case. Does anyone know what year it changed?

Thanks

So, if the runner went down 1 foot from the sideline, and the line had to set up right where the runner went down, and they decided not to forfeit a down to mo...

Old Time Football Rules Questions

I'm working on some research for 1918 and have a few questions that I'm hoping the PFRA members can answer: 1) Extra points - the center has to "kick" or "roll" the ball back to the placekicker? 2) The ball is spotted where the runner is downed even if it's only a few feet from o...
