Re: When you're drafted or when you're signed?

I think the answer to this question depends on the time and context of the individual being discussed. This probably is currently the case: Your rights go to that team immediately until and unless you are released, so that's another way to look at it. You're not anything else once you're drafted. Y...

Re: Antonio Brown

If you base induction on talent alone, Brown is a slam dunk. However, with all his off-the-field, and personality issues, I can see him not being inducted. There are definitely guys who aren't in based on what they did off-the-field who were really good. As I understand it that would be Jim Tyrer, ...

Re: When you're drafted or when you're signed?

I always looked at it that a team has a player's rights when they are drafted, but that player is technically not on the roster until they sign a contract, thus they cannot participate in practices, games, etc.

Re: If Justin Tucker is found out to be a true dirtbag is his HOF chances over?

^I think for an entire career, Vinatieri was better than Tucker is... even though at this moment, Tucker is still playing. But a big question is, 2024 is that the begin of a downslope for Tucker or just an anomaly season? Vinatieri arguably did not go downhill in his performance until his mid-40s......

Re: Pre-World War One nominees for 2025 class

There are a number of Coffin Corner articles that discuss pre-WWI football that include information about Kerkhoff and Shiring. https://web.archive.org/web/20101218220541/http://profootballresearchers.org/Coffin_Corner/02-An-053.pdf https://web.archive.org/web/20140928221224/http://www.profootballre...

Re: New seeding proposal

The idea makes sense.

Doesn't the NBA do this? They seed by record regardless if a team wins its division. The College Football Playoff just approved a seeding format like this, where the top 4 ranked teams receive first-round byes, regardless if they win a conference championship or not.

Re: 2025 Hall of Very Good Finalists

Is there any chance the committee's vote to trim the list of nominees down to 20 would be made public? If not, no big deal. I'm only curious. Chris, not sure I fully understand your question, but allow me to shed some light. Over the past 2-3 years, we've received over 100 nominees each year from t...

You would think more than 23 people would nominate candidates, unless many endorse the same people, I hope.
More than 23 PFRA members nominated candidates. Not everyone nominated five.

Del Shofner would like a word ... not seven, but five cant get election?
I think Jimmy Patton also had five.

Yeah it's unbelievable, Brian, I agree.
