The World's Greatest Pro Gridiron Team
"The World's Greatest Pro Gridiron Team." It's a dramatic title, I know. This is what was said 120 years ago while the 1903 Franklin All-Stars, the subject of a couple of old Coffin Corner articles from four decades ago, in the local fish wraps. I found the story interesting as Franklin is...

Re: Chicago A.A. Question (1891? - 1898?)
There were two key reasons why the Chicago Athletic Association (CAA) dropped football in early 1899: money and ugly (although accurate) rumors of professionalism. Some members of the rather aloof organization noticed that the expenses for the operation of a widely-traveled football team were begin...

Re: Chicago A.A. Question (1891? - 1898?)
I do know Joe was just into some research on the Chicago AA team for me a few weeks ago as he helped me with some history on Herman Kerkhoff's time in the Windy City in that era.

Re: 1970 VS 2006 Colts
The way championships are set up is that you need to be the best team on a particular given day. The Colts were in those instances of 1970 and 2006 to take the titles. There are plenty of cases where the Super Bowl "Favorites" did not take the crown. Were the Giants a better team the rest ...

Re: Gridiron Legacy by Gregg Ficery
This may be the most comprehensive book on early professional football that I have ever read. It is a beautiful book to look at, I got lost many times with all of the eye-candy images included. Within its pages, the overall story of Gregg's Great Grandfather, Bob Shiring and Blondy Wallace, set agai...

Re: Mill City Scrum, a history of Minnesota's first NFL team
For those that did not get a chance to read the Mill City Scrum yet, it is well-written, and you will be enlightened about a player or some other facet of the gridiron heritage of the Twin City area. I highly recommend it. If you did not have the opportunity to hear Ryan speak at the PFRA Convention...

Ryan,
I would say, with the overwhelming responses I have seen in this forum and on Social Media your brilliant idea is a hit!
