Re: What was the abbreviation for the Los Angeles teams?
L.A. Raiders and L.A. Rams.
And N.Y. Giants and N.Y. Jets.
Back then they would just show the score for a game - including the one they were broadcasting - now and then during a game.
The "scorebug" would take up the bottom third or so of the screen.
See games on You Tube.

Re: Opponent fumbles recovered and fumbles recovered
Jim Marshall and Jason Taylor are tied for all-time opponents fumble recoveries with 29 each.
The only place I know of online that you will find the yearly own and opponent recovery data is my site.

Re: When you're drafted or when you're signed?
I think the answer to this question depends on the time and context of the individual being discussed. This probably is currently the case: Your rights go to that team immediately until and unless you are released, so that's another way to look at it. You're not anything else once you're drafted. Y...

Re: When you're drafted or when you're signed?
Maybe you guys can help me with something I've been wrestling with... When players are drafted in today's NFL, it's immediately "Travis Hunter is a Jaguar!" or "Abdul Carter is a Giant!" But, historically, it wasn't always a forgone conclusion that a draft pick would sign with a...

Re: Have we considered digitizing the data in game books?
FWIW, This is what the spreadsheets I have look like, which is very close but not identical to the PBP on PF-R. Again, I don't know where I got these, exactly, or who did them (surely someone here did), but consistency would be something to consider. Screenshot 2025-04-08 120249.png That looks the ...

https://www.nfl.com/news/nfl-s-official-records-to-finally-incorporate-all-america-football-conference-statistics Is this an April Fool's Joke? That's what I thought, too. I'm holding my breath before breaking out the champagne. Although the NFL doesn't really have a sense of humor... What's next? ...

Re: Have we considered digitizing the data in game books?
Well, my memory isn''t what it used to be. I looked on the Internet Wayback Machine and found the old website for The Football Project and it says was founded in 1998 by Sean Lahman and Todd Grenier. I think Patrick Gilligan was involved at some point and created the software for entering the play-b...
