Re: When you're drafted or when you're signed?
That's something you see on Wikipedia posted by people who's knowledge of professional sports only goes back to beginning of the internet - which was when that last person was drafted by an NFL team did not sign. He was Eli Herring by the Raiders in 1995. He declined play on Sundays for religious r...

Re: If Fred Dean stays with the Chargers in '81
Sorry, but I dont underestimate the impact of Fred Dean. This Charger defense was bad but Dean could wreck blocking schemes as well as anyone and could set the edge against the run as well. The Chargers record would have been at least two wins better and he could have been a factor in both Cincy ga...

Re: Least experienced QB corps ... ones with fewest wins going into season
The 1970 Buffalo Bills only had 1 previous win amongst their QB corps. The starting QB was rookie Dennis Shaw. The backup was 2nd year player James "Shack" Harris, who went 0-1 in his rookie year. No wonder the Bills sent a ball boy to pick him up at the airport. (The ball boy was Joe Hor...

Re: Bum Phillips' time with the Saints, 1981-thru-'85
Thanks ... Kemp seemed to get buried on the Seahawks team but you wonder if he could have helped a Bears, Cowboys, Raiders or other teams that had health issues with their starters? He later tried to help the Eagles but couldnt acclimate quick enough. There is no doubt he had a big arm. But he thre...

Re: Bum Phillips' time with the Saints, 1981-thru-'85
Whats ur opinion John? Could the Rams have won with Kemp from 84-86? Or beyond? winning record, yes, as long as they had Dickerson, that online and their defense which was still pretty good at a couple of things -- stopping the run and defending deep passes. They could be dinked and dunked to death...

Re: Bum Phillips' time with the Saints, 1981-thru-'85
In this '83 case, however, NO were indeed still in it and simply had to beat the Rams in the finale, at home, and they'd be in the playoffs (against a falling Dallas team) as well as scoring their first winning season ever! But not to be. That 83 Rams team was an absolute joke. Zero semblance of a ...
