That's really cool! I love getting a few physical copies here and there, but definitely looking for the digital ones for my defensive stats project. But, I'm finding many times, e.g. the Vikings, were horrible at keeping track of stats in the media guides, but in some seasons, e.g. starting in 1984...

Ryan a 4-3 guy, and had a specialty defense, the 46 ... based on old Eagles fronts of the 1950s...and when he had players who could do it, used it 40% of time in 84-85. After he was gone, 20% in 1986, per reports. It wqs a pressure defense ... required man to man CBs ... high risk, high reward. Seif...

The common story is Paul Brown used 40 yards because of special teams, how long/far you go on coverage. I cannot remember the reference, mayb John Madden, on air or in books, or Paul Zimmerman, or elsewhere. Jack Faulkner had a similar view, that football is a '40 yard game' but didn't seem to limit...
