Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
For all the love the 92-93 Cowboys get I've always been more impressed with the 95 team. They didn't have Jimmy Johnson but they had Larry Allen and played a tougher schedule that year than their 92-93 teams did. I don't feel like either of the 3 had as impressive of a season as the 91 Redskins tho...

Re: 1989 NFL season discussion
I seem to recall a magazine or book around the time stating that the best and worst teams were in the NFC. They argued that overall the conferences were equal in talent but not equally distributed. Based on that it isn't a surprise that the NFC would win so many Super Bowls but not necessarily domin...

Didn't Johnny Unitas play semi-pro football? I would rate him above Stabler.

Re: 1981 AFC East discussion
While Strock was known for coming off the bench and playing well he never cut it as a starter as I recall. Looking at the numbers he was worse overall than Woodley. Also recall that Woodley played well in the playoffs vs. New England and San Diego and the Jets game was in the mud. He also had been 4...

Re: 1981 AFC East discussion
"(It'll forever remain a mystery why Shula didn't bring him into the SB against Washington). " As I recall from an interview Shula said when The Redskins went ahead with about 10 minutes left he thought he would give Woodley one more chance but didn't anticipate the the Redskins would run ...

Re: NFL Team Yearbooks: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
I liked the yearbooks as I like to see all the highlights of the year. I didn't like it when they showed too much of players or coaches heads talking or tried to get too artistic, I just wanted to see the best plays and games. I have noticed some were more honest about a team's shortcomings such as ...

Re: 2025 Conference Championships
I edited it to clarify I was talking about a defensive PI that should have been called against the 49ers.

Re: 2025 Conference Championships
Was a clothesline illegal in 1983? Everyone seems to ignore that the 49ers got away with a clear interference on a long pass attempt to Monk on the Redskins drive previous to the 49ers drive that tied the game. [edited for clarification]

Re: 2025 Conference Championships
Denver did its job on defense but Maye ran well. When was the last time a team lost giving up less than 100 yards passing in a championship game? Maybe the Bengals vs. the Bills in 1988 when Esiason only passed for 94 yards. Simms only had 90 yards vs. Washington in 1986 and Eason only had 71 vs. t...
