Re: What do you consider the greatest quarterback match-up in a Super Bowl game?

My first thought in seeing this question was Montana vs. Marino. Not just because of their overall careers but because when they met both had great seasons. I was so excited for that SB. I didn't care who won but was hoping it would be 40-38.

How many of their wins were against playoff teams?

I only see two wins vs playoff teams [Chiefs and Seahawks]. What are the other two?

Re: Best team to not make the playoffs? 1967 Baltimore?

I hate to keep on bringing up the Packers in all these discussions, but the 1963 Packers have a case. They lost two games - both to the Bears - in an 11-2-1 season. I guess you could say they made the "playoffs" because they played in the "Playoff Bowl," but that doesn't really ...

Re: The 1996 NFL Season: 30 Years Later

That sounds like someone who just doesn't like the Packers. That's pretty much it. Some folks have such a vendetta against certain teams that they lose the ability to think rationally. I used to curse the '90s Cowboys, but that didn't stop me from acknowledging what they achieved. No, this person i...

Re: The 1996 NFL Season: 30 Years Later

How great were the 1996 Packers historically? Where would you rank them among the 10 Super Bowl Champion teams of the 90's decade? Where would you rank them all time? I know someone who thinks that the 1996 Pack and the 2001 Pats are the worst SB winners of all time (he rates GB so low because he f...

10 of Washington’s 14 wins in 1991 were against non playoff teams
Exactly. They are the 2001 Lakers of the NFL: Way more loved than they should be.
How many of the 1996 to 1998 Broncos wins came against playoff teams?

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread

For all the love the 92-93 Cowboys get I've always been more impressed with the 95 team. They didn't have Jimmy Johnson but they had Larry Allen and played a tougher schedule that year than their 92-93 teams did. I don't feel like either of the 3 had as impressive of a season as the 91 Redskins tho...

Re: 1989 NFL season discussion

I seem to recall a magazine or book around the time stating that the best and worst teams were in the NFC. They argued that overall the conferences were equal in talent but not equally distributed. Based on that it isn't a surprise that the NFC would win so many Super Bowls but not necessarily domin...
