Re: 2025 Obituaries
Tom Rafferty, one of only seven men to play more than 200 games with the Dallas Cowboys. Quite a player.

Pre-World War One nominees for 2025 class
I have zero familiarity with this year's three nominees who played before World War One - Herman Kerkhoff, Bob Shiring, and Peggy Parratt.
Is the best thing to review Myron Cope's / Robert Peterson's books on the early days of pro football? All suggestions welcomed.
Thank you.

Re: 1988 Redskins
I remember they lost their season opener to the Giants in New Jersey on a defensive touchdown and a special teams touchdown by the Giants. Then they lost to the Giants at RFK when rookie kicker Chip Lohmiller missed an extra point early and a field goal late. It seemed like R. Petibon really got a l...

Re: 2025 Obituaries
There is a terrific article in the April 24, 2025 edition of the Wall Street Journal on the passing of Susan Tose Spencer and her single-handedly holding the Eagles' franchise together in the early 1980's after her father ran into difficulties. I believe it's behind a pay wall and am not sure if I c...

Re: Are the 1990 Giants underrated?
The 1990 Giants won 16 games and lost 3. The beat each of the three teams they lost to, with two of these victories in Championship games. Interesting side note was how many members of their coaching staff served as head coaches: Parcells (HOF) Ehrhardt Hanley Coughlin (HOF) Belichick (HOF) Groh Cre...

Re: Joe Gibbs' 3 Super Bowls- a great achievment or an asterisk?
I write this as a huge New York Giants fan during that era. Those were terrific Washington teams, and I feel Joe Gibbs is a vastly underrated coach. Their 1989 team that just missed the playoffs was a very good team.

Ernest Cuneo book
I have the idea ex-player Ernest Cuneo had a connection to / was involved with the PFRA before he passed in 1988. Anyhow there is a new book out by Thomas Maier about Cuneo's work in the intelligence field after he retired from football. The Invisible Spy: Churchill's Rockefeller Center Spy Ring and...
