HOVG Candidacy of a pair of Denver Broncos defensive backs

What do people think of these two former Denver Broncos safeties - Bill Thompson and Dennis Smith? I think both have strong cases for the Hall of the Very Good and will likely nominate at least one this year.

Thank you.

Re: Two Pro Leagues in the same Season

I want to say fullback Maurice Carthon played in over forty games (exhibition, regular season, and playoffs) as a member of the New Jersey Generals and New York Giants from February 1985 to January 1986.

Re: Rank all '60s League Champions, #1-to-#20

Per Tom Callahan's book on John Unitas - Starting on December 18, 1966 and ending on January 12, 1969 - the Baltimore Colts played thirty football games and lost two - Crazy. I can't find the quote, but I think somewhere Tom Landry said 1968 was his best Cowboys team, I may be mistaken.

Re: Tom Danyluk ranks 1980's SB champions

Good list, thanks. The 1986 Giants were a team that went 14-2 in the regular season, but once the calendar turned to December they really raised their game.

Re: Father-Son First Round Draft Picks

Wondering if Darryl Stingley and Derek Stingley Jr. will be the first grandfather / grandson taken in the first round of the NFL draft on Thursday night?

Gary Brown, a talented running back who broke 1,000 yards twice in an eight-year career, then became a noted running backs coach. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/gary-brown-wisconsin-running-backs-coach-in-2021-who-dealt-with-multiple-medical-issues-dies-at-age-52/ar-AAW4Q2x?ocid=BingNewsSearch

Walt Michaels

Way before my time, but does Walt Michaels have any case for the Hall of the Very Good as a player with the Browns in the 1950's?
Thanks,
Nick

Re: Standouts who played other sports in college

Pete Gent did not play football at Michigan State University, only basketball. Sam Clancy, Senior had a long NFL career on the defensive line after playing only basketball at the University of Pittsburgh.

Gary Green

Curious what people think about Gary Green's candidacy for the Hall of the Very Good. He was with the Chiefs from 1977 to 1983, then finished up with the Los Angeles Rams in 1984 and 1985. Nine seasons - I think five times All-Pro, Chiefs Hall of Fame. Is he an overlooked candidate? Thanks
