Re: Jim Lynch

Great College player with Alan Page et al. on some stout Notre Dame defenses under Ara Parseghian and John Ray during the mid-1960's. I think his brother Thomas was an Admiral who served as Supt. of the Naval Academy for a while. Is he a viable candidate for the Hall of the Very Good? That Chiefs' d...

Re: Best Biography/Auto-Biography football books out there

I enjoyed Preston Pearson's 1985 autobiography. I remember it as candid and insightful. Staubach's Time Enough to Win (1980) was also good. It's not really a biography, but Stuart Leuthner's 1988 book Ironmen maybe up your alley.

Re: Clay Matthews

I tend to agree with GameBeforeTheMoney. I remember Clay Matthews as a rookie in 1978 and it seemed like he was a wily seasoned veteran who had been there for many moons. I remember him as playing his entire career at a high level and that he should be voted into the H of the VG.

Re: A Vikings/Broncos Super Bowl XXII

As Bill Parcells said in 1989 - the Broncos of that era were a team that could not deal with power. I think they would have fared better against the Vikings than the Redskins.

Re: Leon Gray

It shows how stout the 1973 Dolphins were that Leon Gray a 3rd round draft pick could not make their team. It's similar to Dave Brown, who could not gain traction with the Steelers in 1975-76. Both Brown and Gray are solid candidates for the Hall of the Very Good with stellar NFL careers, yet it was...

Re: 1991 Lions and favorite overachievers

The 1967 Israelis - very underrated.
Maybe the 1979 Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Ron Wolf again). 0-14 in '76, 2-12 in '77. LeRoy Selmon in the Hall of Fame, Doug Williams, but John McKay got them to the NFC Championship.

Jack Pardee for HOVG

Curious what people think about Jack Pardee's career and the HOVG? He had a very long career, from 1957 to 1972, then had a winning record as a head coach in the NFL, the USFL, the WFL and in college. Why did he leave the Bears for the Washington Redskins after the 1977 season? Was it just a case of...

Raymond Clayborn

Just wondering what people think about the (long) career of Raymond Clayborn - 1977-1991 with the Patriots and Cleveland Browns.

Thanks a lot.
