Re: Sabbatical concept in NFL
Dick Vermeil might be an example of this from a coaching standpoint. He left Philadelphia because of being "burned out." He came back and won the SB. I'm not sure if Vermeil intended to return when he left Philadelphia.

Re: Footage: Jackie Robinson touchdown at Soldier Field
Thanks for posting this. The footage isn't available on this link anymore, but it's brilliant if anyone can find it elsewhere. What's interesting is that when I've researched Robinson during this time, the newspapers always discuss him as a football player. Rarely is baseball mentioned. The rumor is...

Third time ever losing team had same score two years in a row. First time ever it wasn't 7 pts.
I just realized Kansas City scored 22 pts, same as 49ers last year. This is the first time ever that losing teams scored 22 pts in back-to-back SBs. So, like many of you would, I wondered if that happened before that losing teams had the same score in consecutive years. The only other two times the ...

Re: Do the Chiefs deserve to be considered a dynasty
Both the Browns and Lions got blown out by each other in the 1950s. They're considered dynasty material by many. Three SB wins in six seasons, with two other appearances and one other appearance in the conference championship is, to me, a dynasty. Especially in today's game. I also count the Bills a...

Re: Super Bowl LIX Thread
Kind of a bit like the 83 Raiders win....Eagle had a big int at the end of the 1st half that just about wrapped it up. Underdog blowing out defending champs. Philly was almost perfect in this game - at least up until when I'm typing this with about 9 mins left. About as flawless as a team could be i...

Re: Super Bowl LIX Thread
Mahomes is definitely rattled, similar to the first half against the Bucs in 2021. The Eagles I feel will get Barkley more to the outside in the second half. Who will be a factor at receiver for the Chiefs in the second half? The o line is getting crushed right now. The only real way to maybe chang...

Re: Super Bowl LIX Thread
Going into KC's last possession of the first half, Eagles had more time of possession minutes than KC had yards. Let that sink in. The ONLY thing that can work for KC is if the long halftime affects the Eagles too much. This is complete domination on the defensive line. Eagles o-line hasn't been as ...

Re: Saquon Barkley This Year
Upton Bell - who has been close to the NFL since his father was named commissioner in 1946, he and I just did a podcast episode with much of the focus discussing Barkley's season historically compared to other great running backs. Jim Brown in 1963 and 1958 are probably most impressive. I mean, what...

Re: Super Bowl 59 Talk
While everybody wants to talk about Mahomes, KC has quietly built one of the NFL's best defenses. They're 4th in scoring defense, giving up only 19.2 points per game. Absolutely! And I've always pointed out that KC's front 7 has been deciding their Super Bowls in many ways as much as Mahomes. My bi...

Re: Breakable and Unbreakable records
Barry Sanders is oh-so-close with 99.8. Terrell Davis and Eric Dickerson are the only others with 90+ via a Stathead search. BUT - one player has 115 y/g avg. He only played three games for Washington in 1987. His name is Lionel Vital. Anybody know anything about him? He played the first 3 games of ...
