Re: Another old rules question

The punt-out, also called a kick-out, was after a touchdown. Either you tried the point after from the point opposite where the ball went into the end zone (remember the goal posts were on the goal line), I think two yards out (three in 1927) was where it was spotted, and it had to be place kicked (...

Re: Seeking online sources for newspapers

The Baltimore Sun one has prices. That gets costly, depending on what you are researching and wouldn't allow just looking around as it would add up....

Re: Seeking online sources for newspapers

I have no idea how the Fulton postcard digitalized all those newspapers from microfilm on his own. Nor how he did the Philadelphia Inquirer. Which may be Fulton's only non-New York paper.

Re: Seeking online sources for newspapers

How to "turn the page" in Fulton Post Card site: You go to the list on the left, the results you get for a search. You copy that link address. You then change the number that usually appears on the right side of that "link" Each successive number will be the next page and so fort...

Re: NFL will again revisit most unfair rule in the game

What that stupid Jet lineman did is dangerous, that is why it is automatic first down. Probably should just be a 10 yard penalty. Same result in this instance.

Have they changed the rule that a defensive penalty in last two minutes of a half results in the clock being run down a certain amount?

Re: World's Most Valuable Sports Franchise

Can anyone help with two items. I'd like scores, opponents and what leagues these two teams were in. 93 yard punt Dave Whitt, Fox Valley Outlaws, 10/20/1985 91 yard punt Bob Dylla, Racine Hornets 11/13/1949 The last one is in the Racine Journal Times in newspaperarchive.com for 11/14/1949 but whatev...

Re: World's Most Valuable Sports Franchise

I am lost about AFA. I know I can sometimes sound dense, but I know a long defunct football league had the name, and a soccer organization. What should I be looking for?

Never mind, I think I found it.

Re: World's Most Valuable Sports Franchise

Research might be tough on this one. I found reference to the Irish Dublin Celtics or Celts playing similar teams from Massachusetts. See the end of the part here on Kevin Sharkey: http://www.nkreapers.com/#!coaching-staff/c1swh A problem in addition to others, might be that over in UK and Ireland, ...

Re: World's Most Valuable Sports Franchise

I'll see what I can find. It might get complicated as there were also semi-pro teams from Manchester, New Hampshire, which did sometimes play those same teams like from Hyde Park, etc. Manchester Riflemen were one, though they were from Manchester, Connecticut.

Re: Which nfl Team Will Be the First?

Wow. Grew up in 50s in Brooklyn. Had similar games but without the colorful names. We had rock fights, crab apple fights (hard inedible small apples). When we had snowball fights we'd put rocks in them or make ice balls. We did have the cowboys and Indians games, but no arrows or tomahawks. In addit...
