Re: How soon they forget

<Maybe its beside the point, but its kind of stupid to have head coaches being able to call timeouts, throw challenge flags, etc. during the actual game...yet in the pre-game coin toss the head coaches are not involved and its left to team captains to make choices. Seems archaic, like we just have t...

Re: How soon they forget

Belichick wanted to defend a certain goal, he wanted his guy to say which side they wanted to defend. Make that choice. Then the Jets would opt to receive. Instead he said they'd kick off into the wind (they couldn't get that choice, of which side to kick to). Which is I think why the Jets guy seeme...

Re: Your take on the current state of the game

Wasn't there a spike that bounced off a player on the ground and was intercepted. In the last Giants game? Part of how they caught up... A spike isn't a pass, taking a knee isn't a play. Hey, I don't even see any reason an eligible receiver has to be announced. The opposing team/defense should have ...

Re: "The integrity of the game"

Considering how the NFL now is partners with (What I see as obviously) gambling concerns, there seems far less concern anymore about the fixing of games. With some players on contracts that end when they are terminated and officials who maybe don't get paid millions, perhaps this should start being ...

Re: First NFL game between 2 African-American starting QBs?

As a sidenote (probably this is nothing new to you guys),Herb Trawick (not a QB) became the first black professional football captain for the Allouettes in 1950. He was the "Jackie Robinson of Canadian pro football in 1946." http://www.cflapedia.com/Players/t/trawick_herb.htm https://en.wi...

Re: Urban Legends: Beattie Feathers 1934 Rushing Stats

All this talk about awful teams in the past,....currently there are quite a few quite turkey defenses. Not sure if any records are being set, but the talent must be pretty diluted now or injuries too high...

Re: Thanksgiving without football 1939-45 looking for the re

Left out of the article was that not only would Thanksgiving's Day, pre-1939, be on the Thursday of the last week of November, but that sometimes this would be on an early December date if 11/30 fell on Wednesday, Tuesday or maybe even Monday. This was long enough ago, that Columbia played Syracuse ...

Re: Top 5 Kickers

I'd mention Ken Strong, if solely because he was the first kicking specialist, once held record for longevity and was instrumental in getting the limited substitution rules changed to allow for the kicking specialist (making place-kicking more automatic, but that's another topic) Also, wasn't Paul H...
