Re: 'Mt Rushmore' All-Time QBs

The Colts were almost always good with Unitas, but his inclusion on a Mt Rushmore type monument has as much to do with his image and what it meant for the NFL between 1958 and 1970. Unitas was in essence the face of the league during that period, arguably the its most famous player until the likes ...

Re: The Draft Combine Is Dumb

While I see what the article is getting at, scouting departments HAVE TO see a lot of value in the combine otherwise they'd just quit going to it. If the author's supposition that two days of the combine won't change draft boards or scouting departments minds..then why would anyone bother going? I'd...

Re: Top Coaches - Two or more teams

The issue with Johnson isn't really his lack of "success", its his lack of longevity. The problem with Johnson's stint with the Dolphins was that it was even shorter than his time with Dallas. If you aren't going to induct Johnson based solely on his success in Dallas, than I don't really...

Actually, I read someplace that Dr. Z said that Marion Motley was not only the greatest fullback ever, but the greatest player ever.
I think he may have made some sort of statement to that effect in his 1984 book.

Re: "Three Studs on the O-Line" article

Another thing, fullback Marion Motley was a terrific blocker and would often flatten defensive rushing linemen. Tough enough getting through Cleveland's offensive line only to run into Motley. Wasn't Motley Dr. Z's pick for greatest RB ever? Motley was his pick for his FB on his All-Century team.

Re: Tony Dungy VS Jimmy Johnson HOF

Todd Ellis - saw footage of him on YouTube. I'm about the same size as Ellis, and he was terrible in the games I saw. Started for awhile at South Carolina. Don't think he played in the NFL. . http://therubberchickens.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/images1.jpg http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/player...

Re: Hartford Blues again??

No. A third team in NY or a second in Chicago would be "more viable" than Hartford..and that's not saying much, if anything.

Hey, I said it'd be an unpopular opinion.
What's your basis for this(the bolded)?

Your comment on stats doesn't make sense. Please expound....a lot.

Re: "Three Studs on the O-Line" article

As for the article itself, I would guess that if you had three pro bowlers at any position grouping, you'd be a pretty good team. If you looked at the 16 greatest Super Bowl era champions, you'd probably find that they have some of the greatest defensive lines as well. Right, and it begs the revers...
