Re: Least favorite season your team had?

I’m going to rule out last-place finishes… which means only one from the Packers since I started following football in 1995. I’m also going to rule out losing seasons in general … those are also few, and the easiest ones to pick. I’d then say the 2000 Packers. While they finished with a winning rec...

Re: Least favorite season your team had?

The 1997-1999 Chicago Bears. I have an encyclopedic knowledge of Bears teams before that and after that...those three seasons swirl around in my head like a primordial soup of "suck." I can remember things FROM those seasons but very little about what year they actually occurred in or seq...

Re: Least favorite season your team had?

I wanted, at the time, to see Wannstedt's Bears do well. I liked their '94 playoff run with '95 being better, statistically at least, but no dice. Sort-of like the 1990 non -playoff 9-7 Steelers compared to the '89 playoff 9-7 Steelers. My only late-'90s Bears memory was the second game of the '98 ...

Re: HOF prelim, 167 names

Good points ... but lets say half of his forced fumbles were recovered by the defense, thats still 60 forced turnovers. Riley and Lebeau werent near 9 TDs on defense as well. His tackle numbers were better than I thought, and unlike Riley and LeBeau, who played when defenses had more leverage, Till...

Re: HOF prelim, 167 names

Tillman is extremely underrated, thats for sure. He tackled --unlike some HOF corners--forced turnovers and scored 9 defensive TDs. He played on very strong, opportunistic defenses that might have won a championship with the right QB. His accolades were low though, similar to another underrated pla...

Re: HOF prelim, 167 names

I've bolded some guys who I think are either worthy or will probably make it (E. Manning), but as I got more into the list the harder it got. The OL and DB categories are really difficult. I think the watering down of the HOF makes each subsequent year that much harder, as you can't really distingu...

Re: Neal Anderson

I have my nominations in for this year -- but considering Neal Anderson for next year. My memory of him that he was an excellent all-around running back for the Bears for several years. Very good both rushing and receiving. Yet, I don't really hear anything about him anymore and the younger Bears f...

Re: 1984 49ers = Overrated

I think that's kind of ridiculous, but I think you did mention a really overrated team: the 1985 Bears. They went 15-1 (winning a weak division in a walk) and routed an 11-5 AFC team quarterbacked by Tony Eason and coached by Raymond Berry; the 49ers went 15-1 and trounced a 14-2 team with Dan Mari...
