Re: Jimmy Johnson's eye for talent
Btw, according to Pearlman, there was an attempt to trade Irvin to the Raiders. According to Bayless, Jimmy thought there were more talented WRs on the Hurricanes than Irvin so he was expendable. I don't remember if Pearlman mentioned this, but I read somewhere that Al Davis had to talk Jimmy into ...

Re: Books on Jerry Jones?
There seem to be a few but, frankly, I don't know if they're any good. Does anybody have any recommendations on books about Jerry Jones, warts and all? Not a Jones-sanctioned puff piece. Jeff Pearlman's book on the '90s Cowboys is pretty great and covers Jones's background, but I wasn't sure if a g...

Re: North Dallas Forty movie
It's been a long time since I've seen the movie and even longer since I read the book, but there's a line where Phil Elliott (the Nick Nolte character based on author Pete Gent) claims to have the best hands in the league. Upon seeing (or hearing) that, the real Don Meredith supposedly said, "I...

Re: Willie Lanier helmet vs. CTE
Remember the extra cap/shell that Steve Wallace wore on his helmet for the Niners? I think I would rather see that, than the Guardian Caps that players can officially wear in games for this season.
