Re: 1998

I think that Falcons team had a certain energy, they were inspired, just the right mix of the right guys where the planets aligned that year and they were able to have an excellent season. But after digging so deep into 1998, I do believe the Falcons 14-2 record and Minnesota's 15-1 records are inf...

Re: 1998

The 49ers were pretenders after 1994. Ok this is bogus. When your floor from 1995 to 1998 is the divisional round with a floor of at least 11 regular season wins, you aren't a pretender to win the SB or at least get there. Those 49ers teams could have gotten back to the SB, and the only blowout los...

Re: 1998

Marino for me falls into the Barry Sanders category. I hate to talk negative about their careers because they were amazing and two of my favorites to watch, but these guys careers have been overly romanticized and they are built up now like they were all time bests at their positions and there's ju...

1981

To me this season like few before or after it felt like a massive NFL sea change The Raiders, Steelers, Rams, and Vikings all missed the playoffs after essentially ruling the previous decade You also had the rise of previous doormats in the 49ers and Giants In 1980, there were inklings of football c...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

Illegal contact penalties should not be automatic 1st downs

A Make teams have to earn the first down instead of getting it on a technicality.

5 yard penalties of that variety on 3rd Downs of 6 yards or more should mean a retry of that 3rd down.

Re: 1998

I don't know having a head coach that had been to and won as many conference title games as Dan Reeves, for some of the calls that Dennis Green was making late in that game are just unforgivable to me. If you can't coach it doesn't matter how much talent you have on the field that is a big reason w...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

Oh boy. Quarterbacked by the back-to-back league MVP. Offense scored the most points in the league. Defense surrendered the least amount of points in the league. Top-ranked defense in the league. Special teams had six return TDs including playoffs. That '96 team was lethal. The '97 Packers, on the ...

Denver probably ends up winning the SB that year without Jacksonville in their way.
Who would have made the playoffs in Jacksonville’s place if the kick is made?
Kansas City
