Yes, how Jim Ninowski was paid was in Bernie Parrish's 1971 book. I read it when it came out.

Re: Chuck Foreman

In a recent interview, Foreman said something like, "O.J. and I were the two best backs in football." They probably were in 1975 and 76. In 1975-76 O.J. Simpson and Chuck Foreman could have been called the two best, but there was a big gap between Number One and Number Two. Foreman was of...

Re: Choosing a Senior Preliminary List For The HOF

I see Chuck Foreman, whom we've just been discussing made the list. So did Larry Brown, Timmy Brown, and Byron "Whizzer" White among others.

The late Supreme Court Justice White hated the name "Whizzer."

Re: Chuck Foreman

I love Chuck Foreman but his window of greatness was only five years. While I do believe that he deserves enshrinement if Floyd Little is your baseline, I think Little is in the lowest tier of HOFers and was a very questionable selection. One other thing to consider; if Foreman were to be elected, ...

Re: 2024 Obituaries

I remember Charley Johnson with the Cardinals. He had two big years 1963-64 throwing for over 3000 yards. If the Browns hadn't managed a tie with the Cardinals in Week Two, Johnson and the Cardinals would probably have been in the 1964 NFL Championship game against the Colts, which would have been a...

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

I recall a panel of football writers on TV back in the 60s discussing the two-point conversion. One opposed it because, " a team could be dominating and have their opponent score a lucky touchdown and win 8-7."

Re: Duane Thomas question

RIP Bob Lilly compared Thomas to Jim Brown. He could have had a great career but butted heads with Tex Schramm, who tried to trade him rather than pay him. Had he just stayed focused on football, the sky was the limit, but the business side got under his skin, which is understandable. in those days...

Duane Thomas, former Dallas Cowboys RB, passed away on Sunday, Aug 4, 2024; he was 77. https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/cowboys/2024/08/06/former-dallas-cowboys-running-back-duane-thomas-dies-at-77/ For a time in the early 70s, Duane Thomas was one of the most publicized players in pro football.

Re: The most 'boring' Super Bowl ever, IYO?

I'd say Super Bowl VIII. I can't remember a single play from that Super Bowl. Many of the other snoozers like XXXV or 50 or VI have that one play that sticks out. I remember absolutely nothing from VIII except for one moment when Bart Starr and Pat Summerall answered Ray Scott with the same answer ...

Re: 1975 Pittsburgh Steelers item

Both the 1975 and 1978 Steelers lost to the Rams by similar scores, 10-3 and 10-7. True, granted the 1975 game was the last of the regular season, whereas the 1978 game was the Steelers’ eleventh. I don’t know if they’d have clinched yet but that could be seen as a slightly more meaningful loss pot...
