Re: 1988 NFL Draft: The Year A Kicker was picked before the first quarterback

And the best quarterback in Tony Banks was not that great outside of a decent 1999 season from what I can tell. He seemed to be thrown into the fire too early with the Rams. 1996 was the same year that the Broncos wasted a fourth round pick on Jeff Lewis, thinking he would be the QBOTF (they could ...

Re: 1979 Rams

The 1979 Rams were better than their 1973-78 predecessors. They had a more quality offensive line, they were deeper at WR, and Ferragamo provided some stable QB play for them in 1979 and 1980 before leaving for the CFL in 1981. This team gets crapped on because of their 9-7 record, but they did have...

Re: '86 Seahawks

(On the flip side, they had inexplicable losses to the 10+ loss Oilers/Steelers while none of Seattle’s losses were to teams below .500) That year, I thought the Oilers were on the up and up (after they massacred GB in Week 1), but their turnaround would have to wait a year. As for their 30-9 loss ...

They didn’t even NEED Joe Montana that year
From 1981-98, the NFC West was, for the most part, a mediocre to bad division. Also, the 49ers didn't have to play in many cold weather games during that time.

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

What’s your opinion of Nat Moore?
He was a good WR, but near the end of his career by 1984.
In 1984 The Dolphins were an excellent team
From 1984-96, there really weren't many excellent teams in the AFC. The 1984 Dolphins were a one-man show, not a team.

Re: The Death of NFL Dynasties

The 90's Cowboys dynasty probably never should have happened. They needed to pull off the most lopsided trade ever to get the talent. Then, they ran into a worn out Bills team two years in a row, and then O'Donnell threw them two gift-wrapped INT's to give them a third ring a few years later.

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

And somehow Washington used smoke and mirrors to win 2 SB’s because they were literally a ground gene and not much else
You referring to the 1982 and 1991 Redskins?

Re: 1981 AFC East discussion

They were a defense without an offense- in other words, unbalanced. Between QB and RB, Miami had IMHO the worst offensive backfield to ever make a SB. how many other teams in the early 80s could Woodley have started for? Put him on the early 80s Saints/Colts he'd have been just as bad as Art Schlic...

Re: Strongest/weakest group of playoff teams in a given season

Bills rebounded with a 10-6 season. Nothing special. Kelly's best was already behind him at that point. Same with Thomas. They were still good but the window had closed.
That rebound may have been the result of expansion.

Re: Your Unpopular Football Opinions

Why would the Dolphins rely on the run game when they relied on passing with Marino and his 48 TD passes the entire season? It worked very well. For one year. And, they didn't win the biggest game in football. By 1986, I knew that the Dolphins wouldn't be a problem for several years because of a la...
