Re: 1998
Whenever I watch clips of the 49ers of 1995 and more so 96, there’s one guy who I see getting picked on a lot: Tyrone Drakeford. I see Drakeford and Tim McDonald being thrown at all the time in those clips. And in 97 and 98 I see RW McQuarters and Darnell Walker thrown at a good amount. I don't thi...

Re: When did the Super Bowl become the Super Bowl?
I remember being in the 3rd grade in 1993 and sitting down to write down the Super Bowl results with some friends that were quizzing me, I got to the current Super Bowl which had to have been XXVIII and there were still like 10-12 slots on the paper left, so I kept going and tried to predict the fu...

Re: Most "bipolar" team ever?
That Lion team was the last straw before transitioning into what they were in between the Billy Sims and Barry Sanders eras (which was horrible).1985 Lions - Beat four playoff teams (Dallas, San Francisco, Miami, N.Y. Jets), but only had a 7-9 record.

True. San Diego wouldn't have, either.Miami/Pittsburgh/Houston wouldn’t have turned it over 9 times and they wouldn’t have had the mounting pressure of XXV/XXVI Buffalo did

Re: Marino's Best Shot Since '84?
I don't think that the Cowboys would have walloped the Oilers or the Chargers. The Bills were banged up and worn down mentally and physically entering both of those SB's, and they made Dallas look better than they were.1992 Cowboys wallop whoever they play.

Re: Marino's Best Shot Since '84?
1992 If the Oilers hold onto 35-3, the Dolphins make it to Pasadena If the Dolphins play the Oilers in the AFC Title Game, I'm not so sure they beat them. They did beat them 19-16 that year, but it was at home, and the Oilers didn't have Warren Moon at QB. Also, if they played the way they did agai...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
The Falcons would have been wise to go with either of those options over Glanville. Though maybe the 91 season isn't as fun without him. I didn't know that about Wade going to the Oilers being a thing. I know when the Texans were launching they were considering Wade Phillips and Gary Gubiak that ea...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
On NFL Live before the 1989 Steelers@Broncos playoff game, Bobby Beathard and Ralph Wiley were talking with Bob Costas about coaching hires. Beathard said that the Falcons were looking at Mike Holmgren as well as Joe Bugel and Jerry Glanville. Also, Ralph Wiley said that the Oilers (who just fired G...

Re: Steelers/Bears history in-general (formerly '1980: Bears at Steelers, Week #4')
For me I'm reminded of the 2001 season. I was super hyped for those playoffs all year long because I was sure we would get 2 matchups that I really wanted to see, Oakland vs Pittsburgh in the AFCCG, and Chicago vs St. Louis in NFCCG. Of course the tuck rule and the Eagles messed that up for me. Per...

Re: Greatest Season of the ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s
The only knock on the AFC this year would be Denver 5-11 Super Bowl hangover One reason had to do with injuries to some defensive players, but I wonder if losing three of the last four SB's caught up to them. Also, I feel that it should have been Dan Reeves' final year in Denver because he should h...
