Re: 1988 Redskins
And why is 87 better? For starters, they had a better defense on paper. For example, the 87 Skins still had Dave Butz, Dexter Manley, and Darryl Grant while the 91 Skins were starting people like Fred Stokes and Eric Williams. Also, another reason is the competition that they had in the NFC playoff...

Re: 1988 Redskins
They were better than the 91 Redskins, the most overrated team ever from what I see online.Ten Minute Ticker wrote: ↑Tue Jun 03, 2025 7:26 pm In my mind, 1988 Redskins were a market correction as the 1987 Redskins are near the bottom in terms of Super Bowl winners.

Re: 1994 NFL season in retrospect
The Chiefs screwed up letting Albert Lewis leave for the Raiders. Steve Bono for KC went 0-2 as starter but with a better defense in 1995, went 13-3 ... Could Montana had done better instead of retiring? I don't think the Chefs were real contenders in 1993, anyway. They played in a division that wa...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
I agree, 7Dn, the Raiders would have beaten the 'Burgh as well. Every season is different from the year before or after, but I'm thinking Oakland wins in the same way they did at Pittsburgh in Wk#2 the following year. However, I don't think they play the Rams as close as you think. IMO its StL by d...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
Bettis was banged-up, though. He didn't play in the divisional round, and he only had nine carries against the Patriots. The Raiders had were awful against the run (5th worst) and PIT had the #1 rushing attack
Plus it’s a West Coast team going East for a noon kickoff

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
2001 What if the Jets don’t lose at home in week 16 vs 2-12 Buffalo? Assuming they still beat OAK in week 17, NY would have won a 3-way tie for the AFCE and vaulted up to the #2 seed The Patriots would have still hosted a playoff game, but their Foxboro finale is now a less snowy 4-5 Wild Card Game...

Re: NFL "what-if" scenarios thread
1980 What if there is no Miracle at the Met? While Cleveland gets the division crown no matter what happens in week 16 at Cincinnati, MIN at HOU is now do or die for the Vikings as the Lions won their last 2 games and had they tied the Lions would have won a H2H tiebreaker. Meanwhile the Browns wou...

Re: LUCKIEST single-season teams?
I can't put the 01 Bears on a luckiest team list even with those 2 miracles: they had a PD of +135 (3rd best in the NFL). Even if you take out those Mike Brown miracles, they're an 11-5 playoff team that ironically would have played at San Francisco They didn't do anything for four years, though. T...

Re: What NFL season had the least clear favorite in the preseason?
still believed in Broncos(4). I think they had high hopes for Brian Griese. Maybe they believed that Griese would manage the game enough to win since they still had the same O-line and Terrell. Starting Griese was a big mistake, though. They still had the same cast minus Atwater (and they added Al ...

Re: Notable Bronco-Seahawk games!
1985 Week 16 a rare friday night football game DEN rallied from down 17-0 One of only 2 Elway 400 yard games that kept DEN alive for a few days in the playoff race until the Jets/Pats slammed that door on Sunday Also Seattle doinked a potential game tying 52 yard FG wide right to cap off the Seahaw...
