Re: 2025 QB Carousel
Unless Cousins is willing to negotiate a significant cut in his salary for the upcoming season(s) I sincerely doubt anyone will be interested in trading for him. Per Google quoting ESPN: Kirk Cousins' salary this year (2025) with the Atlanta Falcons is $27.5 million, which is his guaranteed base sal...

Re: Jay Hilgenberg
Well, as a fellow center named Jay I am all in favor of his inclusion in the Hall of Fame. I'm very happy we (at least) got him into the Hall of Very Good in 2020. ...and anyway whose favorite player is a center? That'd be me. My favorite player is Chuck Bednarik (and yes, I played linebacker, too)....

Re: Don Shula's Best Teams
Are we talking regular season only? If so my answer wouldn't change (1973) but other teams would rank higher in my view This is certainly not an in-depth study of each team. I was curious as to how each team ranked that season compared to other teams in their league/conference so I looked at the to...

Re: Don Shula's Best Teams
I don't know that I have a final opinion on ranking Shula's best teams but I did find their relative offensive/defensive placement interesting. PFR's listing based on points (as opposed to yardage): 1964 Colts: 1/1 of 14 NFL teams 1965 Colts: 3/4 of 14 NFL teams 1967 Colts: 2/2 of 16 NFL teams 1968 ...

Re: When you're drafted or when you're signed?
What if a player is drafted and signed but never plays a down for the team?
If he is injured or cut before he plays a down do you still consider him "on the team?"
Does it matter (to you) if he did or didn't play in the preseason?

Re: When you're drafted or when you're signed?
I think the answer to this question depends on the time and context of the individual being discussed. This probably is currently the case: Your rights go to that team immediately until and unless you are released, so that's another way to look at it. You're not anything else once you're drafted. Yo...

Re: Pre-World War One nominees for 2025 class
Assuming it is OK to post these links here (please delete them if this is not the case), The Football Learning Academy's Hall of Honor has "enshrined" each of those three and dedicated a page on their site to them (which is an excellent source of information): Hall of Honor - Herman Kercho...

Re: New seeding proposal
I think (at least mathematically) the current division/conference alignments make sense. 32 teams divided into 2 conferences each of which has four divisions of four teams... it is simple and elegant and makes the standings and playoffs (relatively) easy to comprehend. And it is relatively easy to s...
